Zone 2: SUBSURFACE
Dimensions: Approximately the same size as Earths moon
Solid Ice Depth: 20KM / Liquid Water Depth: 80KM
Survey data indicates Europa contains two to three times the volume of liquid water on Earth.
Temperature: Surface mean temperature -160°C, water temperature is unknown however data indicates gravitational flexing(Proximity to Jupiter) causes tidal heating and there is evidence of volcanic vents on the ocean floor, these combined would provide enough heat to keep the vast majority of Europas water in liquid form.
Pressure: Although the combined depth of the ice shelf and water is approximately 100km it is estimated that maximum pressure on the ocean floor is comparable to earths deepest ocean due to the small mass of the moon.

EUROPA LIFE - ZONE BREAKDOWN
The subsurface of Europa is divided in 6 distinct biomes (with gradual transitions), the deeper you descend the larger and more hostile the native lifeforms become. The following images contain a zone by zone breakdown illustrating the types of creatures you may encounter (note illustrations are representative of species type not representative of density encountered)
To assist in describing each zone the following additional information is provided:
Hostile: What % of that biome is likely to attack the player on-site, this figure changes depending on species density and situation.
Average Size: Each biome will contain a wide range of species and sizes, this figure is an average and there will be exceptions to this rule (juvenile > adult > "boss" fights)
Potential Damage: The average % of a players health each attack/impact can cause.
Zone 1 - 3km > 7km
Average Size: 2-10cm
Potential Damage: 1 > 2%
This is the first area players will encounter life on Europa, consisting of small jellyfish and krill. Although non-hostile impact with some creatures can cause cosmetic damage and in swarms potential damage to intake jets and thrust.
Zone 2 - 4km > 12km
Average Size: 0.1 > 0.8 metres
Potential Damage: 2 > 5%
Species in this biome are more curious and will probe the sub, should they feel threatened they can cause minor hull damage and discharge electrical charges on contact.
Zone 3 - 7km > 16km
Average Size: 1 > 3 metres
Potential Damage: 5 > 10%
This is the first area where the player will encounter hostile species, although single creatures will have minimal impact some species can swarm and cause significant hull and engine damage.
Zone 4 - 10km > 20km
Average Size: 3 > 10 metres
Potential Damage: 20 > 30%
Players will need to be cautious moving into and beyond this zone, half the creatures encountered will attack on sight and can cause lethal damage within a few attacks.
Zone 5 - 20km > 25km
Average Size: 10 > 30 metres
Potential Damage: 30 > 100%
Once the player descends below the ice shelf into the open oceans below encounters with any hostile species is likely to result in swift death. Players are advised to retreat from any potential contact and only proceed when the area is clear. Lights and noise will attract creatures from the depths and some species have the ability to kill instantly.
